Hello new face,

This blog post is mainly for the new players who wish to know about the foam flinging hobby and wish to start it. If you have friends who want to have their start in the foam flinging hobby but have no idea what blaster to go for or stuck in a very tight budget, do introduce them to this blog post as we will show your friends our best choices of blasters for those who want to start the hobby.

Our first blaster choice for beginners is the XYL KM-9 Unicorn Blaster

This springer foam blaster unit comes in a price of RM250. This blaster is the premier choice for beginners in our opinion. With the very reasonable price and having a full set of blaster partially disassembled out of the box, this foam blaster is the go-to unit for anyone who wants to start the hobby and not burn a hole in their wallet. This blaster has a very small and compact look, giving an outstanding performance for a compact foam blaster of an average FPS of 150 using Worker Gen 3 Stefan darts.

This blaster has a few upgrades that can help to improve the performance. A combination of the upgrade spring (1.7 upgrade spring or 1.8 upgrade spring) and a longer barrel, the blaster can give a dart fps of about 170 average fps with the 1.7 upgrade spring and longer barrel using Worker Gen 3 Stefan darts or 180 average fps with the 1.8 upgrade spring and longer barrel using Worker Gen 3 Stefan darts. It can reach higher fps levels, up to 200 FPS when using the QWK Black Dragon EPP darts. (NOTE!: Upgrade parts are sold separately.)

The blaster is usually played in close quarters games because of their slam-fire feature of this blaster. This allows users of this blasters to put more darts down the range. However, do not let that deter you from trying go for longer range. With the aforementioned extended barrel upgrade, this blaster can hit targets at roughly 50m.

The next in our recommended list is the Worker Nightingale

Currently Worker has made the Nightingale unit to be a full auto unit, instead of the single push flywheel version like the NERF Stryfe unit. With a RM 240 base price tag, you can get the Nightingale unit with a magazine, holster and also a spring line holder for the blaster. The unit can hit up to about 130 average FPS while sporting the single stage flywheel motor set inside the blaster. Sadly the unit does not come with a battery. With the battery of the JIKEY 11.1V 550MAH (The recommended battery to be used along side with the Nightingale blaster), the price will reach up to RM296.

This full-auto Nightingale is recommended to be used in many close range games. With the high rate of fire, the blaster allows you to be more aggressive when turning in corners.

Another blaster in our beginner recommendation line-up is the ZWQ S200 Fire Rat or the ZWQ S200s Viper Pistol Foam dart blaster unit.

These two foam blaster pistol units are another good choice for those who want to have a smaller sized foam blaster compared to the XYL KM-9 Unicorn foam dart blaster. Although each of these units are proprietary to their own, they have near comparable FPS levels between each other as well as to some of the compact blasters. With their current price tag of RM220 for the ZWQ S200 Fire Rat and RM240 for the ZWQ S200s Viper respectively, they can be paired with upgrade springs and respective metal upgrade parts to make their performance to reach close to the highest fps reach of 200.

This blaster is very suitable for close quarters games with its small size. It also can work well for those who have a primary style foam blaster unit.

The next blaster in our list is the Worker Harrier.

This blaster is the carbine style foam blaster that allows users to be able to throw darts further down range. This blaster comes with a pre-installed 1.1 spring and and 31cm barrel, providing a reasonable performance with an average of 160+ average FPS. With the provided 1.4 spring and 37cm barrel upgrade allows the blaster to be able to hit at near 200 FPS range with the usage of Worker Gen 3 stefan darts. Even with the price of RM 650 per Worker Harrier unit (which is quite expensive for a person in a tight budget), this blaster comes with other modes of blaster priming and sporting the picatinny rails, making it suitable for those who wish to kit out this blaster. This blaster unit also has the purchasable longer barrel of 450mm and 550mm with the upgrade spring of a 1.6 with differing lengths of 250mm and 300mm. This allows the blaster to reach fps levels of near 300 with the Worker Gen 2 HE stefan darts and Worker Gen 3 Stefan dart and goes above 300 FOS with the usage of the QWK EPP stefan darts

This blaster is played as a long range blaster alternative to other long range foam blasters such as the Phantom Tech Kirin Type-A Blaster. Do not let this designation of the Worker Harrier deter you from making use of it in short to medium range engagements in your foam dart games. With a return spring built in the blaster, this allows the Worker Harrier to make more shots compared to other sniper-like foam dart blasters.
